Synopsis: In Canada, everyone has the right to be treated with dignity and respect in the workplace—these are basic human rights. My presentation will focus not only on diversity as it relates to gender, race, and sexual orientation but also on taking the necessary steps to create an inclusive environment for all employees. The participants will confront their unconscious biases to lessen the harmful effect of stereotypes in the workplace and in decision-making.
The presentation will cover:
1. A description and the differences between diversity, equity, and inclusion.
2. How to leverage diversity in our workplace.
3. Awareness of the impact of our own biases in the workplace.
4. Microaggressions and ways to interrupt negative biases.
5. What it means to build allyship and informed, inclusive leadership.
